Lace & Peplum

Happy Saturday my loves!  Yesterday was so hectic for me and I ended up going to the city last minute at night so I wasn't able to take great photos in my outfit before heading out.  I was able to get a few quick shots from my iphone though so I hope these will do.  This will be a short post!

Bustier: Forever21 (new)
Skirt: Cotton On (new)
Shoes: Forever21
 Clutch: Forever21

This is not how I originally planned to wear this skirt, but I am happy with the outcome.  I had to put this together in like 5 minutes because I was short on time.  I really love this peplum skirt and the fact that it's high waisted.  Putting my hair in a high bun worked so well with this bustier and I think gave it a more sophisticated look.  I wanted to go with simple shoes so I wore these sling backs.  I used this studded envelope clutch to add a little dimension and went with gold accessories and a light pink lip! I was going for something sexy but still classy and I think I achieved that!

Here's a photo last night with 2 of my loves!

Hope you're enjoying this weekend

Outfits I've Inspired

Hey beautiful ladies!  Another weekend is upon us and it is going to be super HOT over here in the NJ/NY area.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to do an outfit post today so I decided to put this up now just in case.  I've gained a great following on my instagram and I have to say that it has shown me that I really DO inspire others with my own personal style.  Over the past few months, girls that follow me have posted photos of their outfits and tagged me to let me know that it was inspired by one of my looks.  So I decided to show case a few of them here on my blog with my outfit and then the way they recreated it! :)

AND...
My high bun has inspired too!  I wear my hair this way often and created a tutorial for it on youtube after I got a lot of girls asking me how I do it.  I don't do the sock or donut.

They all look great and I'm so very happy that I was able to help inspire them to recreate these looks.  If there's been an outfit that I have inspired you to wear, please send me an email to aloveaffairwithfashion@gmail.com!

Happy Friday my loves <3

New Study: Is a Calorie a Calorie?

A new study in JAMA led by Dr. Cara B. Ebbeling and colleagues purports to challenge the idea that all calories are equally fattening (1).  Let's have a look.  When thinking about the role of calorie intake in body fatness, there are basically three camps:

1.    Calories don’t matter at all, only diet composition matters.
2.    Calories are the only thing that matters, and diet composition is irrelevant.
3.    Calories matter, but diet composition may also play a role.

The first one is an odd position that is not very well populated.  The second one has a lot of adherents in the research world, and there’s enough evidence to make a good case for it.  It’s represented by the phrase ‘a calorie is a calorie’, i.e. all calories are equally fattening.  #1 and #2 are both extreme positions, and as such they get a lot of attention.  But the third group, although less vocal, may be closest to the truth.

Simple In Pink

Hello dolls!  Whenever I have a new hair style I just instantly feel like a brand new person!  I woke up with a big smile on my face.  Can't you tell in these pics?!  Thanks so much again to the Moxie Twins for hooking me up!  I already received a bunch of entries for the make over contest and let me just say that all of your stories touched me!  Make sure to enter before Monday and email me why you should get a moxie make over to aloveaffairwithfashion@gmail.com.  Now on to today's outfit!

Top: TJ Maxx
Shorts: Forever21
Shoes: Forever21
Bag: H&M
Lipgloss: MAC Pink Poodle

Last night I had a crazy little adventure in the city and I swore off heels forever.  Of course that was a lie (lol) but I wanted to wear something very simple and cute today.  You can wear plain pieces and still make them look fab! This top was only $12 from TJ Maxx and I really love the detailing in the back.  I decided to pair it with these dark denim shorts that I got last summer.  Love how they come already rolled up at the bottoms.

I brought out my floral pumps because I haven't worn them in awhile and I like how it added some print to this outfit.  I'm on the hunt for some new hand bags so until then I'll still be rocking with my shoulder bags or clutches.  Today I went with this mini one.

This necklace that I am wearing is amazing!  I absolutely love it. It's courtesy of Eye Candy Bling's Diamonds & Spikes Collection.  It has gold spikes and little rhinestones going all around.  I was so excited when I received this in the mail.  So guess what?!  All of my followers get 10% any of the items on her Etsy store by using the code Natyxoxo so make sure to take advantage of this and check her out at the link above!   She's also on instagram: eyecandybling :)

Last but not least there is a new sale over at PLNDR that I think you should check out because it ends in 4 days! Signing up takes less than a minute and then you will have access to all of the site's exclusive discounts.  This time the sale is from REFINERY29 and it features great items for summer like dresses, colored denim, shorts, shoes and even swim wear!
Enter the code SUMMERLOVE and receive an additional 10% off all of your orders! I love being able to give you ladies the hook up!

I hope that you have a FABULOUS day.

Moxie Makeover & Give Away!

I just got back from getting my makeover at the Moxie Salon !  It's a beautiful full service salon located in Ridgewood, NJ and they were featured on VH1s hit show "Why Am I Still Single"  They did my makeup, touched up my ombre highlights, gave me shock treatment conditioner, and clip in extensions for a new look.  I haven't had long hair in awhile so this is really fun for me.  The extensions are both black and the color of my ombre highlights so it all blends in together for that dark & light effect.  Very funky! Here's the photos of my new look!  And then I will show you guys photos of the salon, the services they offer and the contest to win a free makeover! So make sure to read all the way through this post :)

I love that my ombre is touched up and I can clip in these extensions whenever I want for a different look. And I love this eye makeup!

Here's some photos of the salon and The Moxie Twins: Jamie & Jenna.

What Puts Fat Into Fat Cells, and What Takes it Out?

Body fatness at its most basic level is determined by the rate of fat going into vs. out of fat cells. This in/out cycle occurs regardless of conditions outside the cell, but the balance between in and out is influenced by a variety of external factors.  One of the arguments that has been made in the popular media about obesity goes something like this:

A number of factors can promote the release of fat from fat cells, including:
Epinephrine, norepinephrine, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), glucagon, thyroid-stimulating hormone, melanocyte-stimulating hormone, vasopressin, and growth hormone
But only two promote fat storage:
Insulin, and acylation-stimulating protein (ASP)*
Therefore if we want to understand body fat accumulation, we should focus on the latter category, because that's what puts fat inside fat cells.  Simple, right?

Can you spot the logical error in this argument?

Super Casual

So today I was supposed to get my makeover but I'm actually going tomorrow now.  I went with a very casual outfit today and I wasn't even going to take photos, but decided to at the last minute so this will be a short post.  I did this really quick on my way out with my iphone so the quality is not as good as usual.  Thankfully I missed the down pour!  The weather has been crazy today!

Tank: Target
Denim Vest: Forever21
Pants: H&M
Sandals: Forever21
Bag: ShoeDazzle
Sunnies: Ray-Ban

I love the denim & khaki combo.  I think every time I wear these pants I pair them with some type of denim top.  I've worn this vest a few different ways on my blog so hopefully it gives you a couple of ideas on how you can style it.  I'm using a snakeskin handbag that I think I also use every time I wear these pants lol I love it though.

I have on simple white sandals and a little arm party.   I put this photo up on instagram (natybaby) since you can't really see the bracelets I'm wearing in these photos. This blue bracelet is courtesy of Glam Bar  so make sure to check out all of her other pieces! Very cute things you might like :)

I always feel so tiny in flats :)

Have a fab day!
XO

Rainbow Feathers

Happy beautiful Sunday!  It's been in the 80s today and this is what I consider perfect weather.  No humidity and a nice cool breeze! Since I was basically in all black last night, I wanted to switch it up this afternoon with some nice colors.

Blouse: Courtesy of Gypsy Warrior (Here)
Jean Shorts: Forever21
Shoes: Mojo Moxy
Bag: Mandee
Sunnies: Ray-Ban
Lipgloss: MAC Pink Poodle

I'm wearing this lovely draped blouse with rainbow feather print all over.  The front is v-neck and the back has shred detailing which I love.  I also love the sleeves on this because they poof out.  It's super cute!  The blouse is sheer but comes with a lining underneath which is great.  I really like the color combo.  Check out some of the other great tops at Gypsy Warrior!

I decided to pair this with my new jean shorts that I showed in my Forever21 haul.  They'e called "Colored Denim Dolphin Shorts." I really like the way they are cut on the bottom.  I wanted to bring out the pink in the top so I'm wearing these shoes that I purchased at a boutique called Carina inside the Borgata hotel down in AC over a year ago.  I always forget about these!  The bottom part has studs going around the front and sides.

I just went with a neutral bag and silver accessories.  Nothing too much today and no arm candy.  I have on pink gloss to match and  I decided to pin my hair over to one side.  I really like this look!  Another weekend has come and gone and I hope that you've all been enjoying it!  I can't believe that June is almost over.

Tomorrow I'm going to Moxie Salon for my make over and I'm really excited! Can't wait to share photos.
XOXO
