Alumapalooza 2012

The past week, I was in Jackson Center, Ohio to attend Airstream Life's "Alumapalooza" for the third year in the row.  Not only did I attend, but I was once again the photographer for the event and each year always seems to be a bit better than the last.  Maybe "better" isn't the word, but one thing is for sure... it is growing in numbers!

For five days, I walked up and down the grounds of Airstream looking for people to photograph.  Some days it wasn't easy with the rain and wind.  Usually people hide away and shut the door and I won't come knockin' if it's closed.  Once the sun peeked out, so did everyone else and that's when I ran around to capture to moments of the event.

I can't just take a photo and leave.  I really do enjoy talking to everyone and getting to know the new folks that make the trek all the way to Ohio to be a part of the festivities.  It was nice to see familiar faces and I think most people approached me to see if I brought Max along.  Sadly, he stayed home.  One of the things I love the most is the dogs that come and bring their owners along.

This year didn't disappoint.  I can go on and on about the week, but for now... here are some of my favorite images thus far.  I am still glued to the computer, editing and have a lot more images to go through.  If you met me at the event, hold tight...I have many more photographs to post. I look forward to Alumapalooza 2013!  If you haven't been and you have interest in Airstreams, it's the place to be.  To me, it's family.

Animal Print Maxi

Happy Wednesday!  It started to drizzle when we were shooting outside but I kept on going even though this isn't suitable attire for rain lol For the love of my blog!! So I'm sorry about all the cars in the background, I had to do this fast and on my block before it started to down pour! I'm just happy I was able to wear this for a few hours before the weather switched up.

Tank: Target
Maxi Skirt: H&M (new)
Shoes: Forever21 (old)
Belt: H&M
Clutch: TJ Maxx
Lipstick: MAC Vegas Volt

I found this animal printed maxi skirt the other day and I really love the versatility of it.  It's sheer, so in order to dress this up I needed to wear a long black tank to make sure that nothing would show through.  I've actually been making my own slips that way, by using long tanks.  But this is also the perfect skirt to wear over a bathing suit to the beach or on vacation.

I have on a simple micro tank and I'm using my favorite belt to bring everything together at my waist.  I'm wearing these peep toe sling backs and using another envelope clutch (surprise surprise) :)
My accessories are this black suede & rhinestone chain bracelet that I just got from Fancy Made, this new ring that I picked up from Forever21, H&M chain necklace and simple gold studs.  I'm wearing Vegas Volt again on my lips.  Ladies, you should really try out this color or something in a similar shade.  It really is the best color for this season!

So I got such a lovely package in the mail today from Drea of Fancy Made, the girl I told you about in the Arm Party Contest Post.  She is the one who made the bracelets that the winner will be getting!  She gave me the same bracelet which I have on in this post, a pair of custom made suede & rhinestone hoop earrings and a vintage clutch from the 1920s made with real snakeskin that she got from an estate sale.  How amazing is she? Make sure to check out her Etsy store for some great pieces!

Hope you're having a fab day!

Calories Still Matter

The Centers for Disease Control's NHANES surveys documented a massive increase in obesity in the United States between the 1960-62 and 2007-2008 survey periods (1).  In 1960, 13 percent of US adults were obese, while in 2008 that number had risen to 34 percent.  The prevalence of extreme obesity increased from 0.9 to 6.0 percent over the same time period!

Something has changed, but what?  Well, the most parsimonious explanation is that we're simply eating more.  Here is a graph I created of our calorie intake (green) overlaid on a graph of obesity prevalence (blue) between 1970 and 2008:

Black On Black

Hey dolls! I love colors & prints, especially for this season, but sometimes I like to resort back to black.  It's one of my favorite colors and I think it's very classic and chic.  I haven't been feeling too well these past couple of days and I wanted to play dress up to lift my spirits.

Top: H&M
Leggings: Forever21
Sandals: Zara
Clutch: Forever21
Lipstick: MAC Full Speed

I recently purchased this top and I really love it.  It has mesh in the front and the back with a little zipper.  The weather has been up and down lately so since it's not too warm out, I decided to take advantage and put on a pair of leggings.

I wanted to throw in a little color, so I went with these tan & orange sandals that I am obsessed with.  The heel isn't too high and they're super comfortable.  These are great shoes for either day or night.
I'm using this studded envelope clutch that I recently found. I have a little story about this clutch.  Last year I saw it on the Zara website and fell in love but it was sold out and it was $60.  After all this time I found it randomly at Forever21, the exact same one, and for less than half the price.  I got it Memorial Day weekend so they might still have them.

I was going to wear silver accessories, but I decided to go with gold.  I like gold so much more.  The last touch was my bright lipstick.  Also switched up my nail color yesterday to Essie Turquoise & Caicos.  Love this shade.

Make sure you check out yesterday's post about the arm party contest and submit your entry by this Sunday!

Prints & Neutrals

Happy Saturday!  It's such a perfect day weather wise and I am loving it.  I think this outfit might just be my new favorite. Printed pants are extremely popular right now and these are my newest obsession! Heading out soon for dinner & drinks but wanted to make sure I got this post up.

Top: Forever21
Pants: Zara
Shoes: Zara
Clutch: Asos
Sunglasses: H&M
Lipstick: MAC Vegas Volt

I saw these pants before at Zara and always had my eye on them.  I finally tried them on and the fit was perfect so I couldn't resist.  I LOVE the print and color combo.  There's also zippers at the ankles. I think these are great for spring.  I decided to go with neutral shades so I paired them with this white shoulder cut out top that I recently purchased.  It's loose fitting and flowy. Super cute!

I went with these nude pumps to bring out the tan in the pants.  I think they look really good together.  These shoes are a year old but they still do the trick!  I'm using my new clutch from Asos and I am so happy that I got this.  It's a great addition to my outfits.  If you haven't noticed yet, I am clutch obsessed!

Wearing my Merona target watch, F21 bangles and white bracelet.  I have on my favorite F21 earrings as well.  To throw in some color I put on Vegas Volt lipstick.  I love wearing colored lipstick with my outfits.

How do you feel about printed pants?  Are you bold enough to wear them?  Have a wonderful weekend!

XOXO
