Heart Of Gold

Happy Friday dolls!  I really wanted to post this outfit yesterday, but I wasn't able to take pics until 7 last night so I decided to leave it for today. I tried to get creative with this look and it all came together instantly.  It has a casual laid back vibe but it's still a little dressed up which I love.

Denim Top: Forever21 (Similar)
Stripe Dress: Forever21 (Similar)
Heart Belt: Forever21
Boots: ShoeDazzle
Bag: H&M

Originally, I went to Forever21 to get a new denim/chambray top.  I think that denim tops are a staple piece!  They literally go with so many different things and I will be wearing this one multiple times this Fall.  As I was searching through the rest of the store, I came across this stripe dress and it was only $8!  I immediately put this top over the dress on the hanger and I really loved the combo.

I finally found this heart shape belt and was so excited because it was the last one there.  It was the perfect touch for this outfit. Unfortunately, the gold in the heart didn't really pick up in these photos. I decided to go with these knee high boots that I got last year from ShoeDazzle.  It makes the look more Fall appropriate.

 Necklace: C/O Happy Wrist

I'm wearing this adorable wishbone necklace courtesy of Happy Wrist, one of my favorites!  I love anything that is associated with wishes & luck.  She seriously makes so many cute pieces so please check out her stuff if you haven't done so yet. She also just changed her website, so you must go look! You get 10% off with the code NATY10

Bracelets: C/O TheWayWeAre

I'm also wearing these 2 chain bracelets courtesy of The Way We Are.  I picked these 2 pieces because I wanted bracelets that I could incorporate into my every day looks and I think that they these are perfect! I will definitely be wearing them often.  Make sure to check out all her other items and get 10% off with the code YOURWORTHIT!

Hope you liked my denim & stripe combo!  Have a lovely weekend

Lobster Fishing In Maine

Ever since my first visit to Maine, I've wanted to get on a lobster boat and spend a day with the lobster fishermen.  I am fascinated with the people who do it and why they continue to do it.  In a series of events one morning, it seemed as it happened in an instant.  One moment I was having coffee with Ralph and the locals and the next minute, I was on a lobster boat.  Jon the captain agreed to have me on board as long as I kept out of their way.  I agreed, hopped on board and the adventure began.

I'm always prepared to change direction at a moment's notice and this was no exception. As soon as I jumped on board, I stood to the side  to observe them and witness the synchronicity in their moments without speaking a word.  As if they could do it in their sleep, they knew the specific job at hand and did it seamlessly throughout the day.  Jon would locate the traps, bring them in one by one, discard lobsters who had eggs or weren't large enough, saved the ones that were while Ray put new bait in, and stacked the traps to drop into the sea once again.

In between traps, I would chat briefly with Jon and Ray about their lives and about fishing.  I didn't talk much since the idle time was very limited.  Mostly, I kept to myself and stayed in places on the boat where I wouldn't get in the way.

At one point, Jon suggested that I jump on a buoy (the one you see below in the distance) to get a shot of them in the boat, floating away.  I did and as I stood on the buoy, I started to wonder if the joke was on me. They circled around, laughed, took pictures of me and eventually picked me up once again.

I am thankful that captain Jon agreed to have a stranger jump on board during his workday.  After it was over, he said that not many visitors get on the boat with them so I felt fortunate.  It's always a thrill to be able to do something I've always wanted to do.  Sometimes it can be as easy as telling someone you want to do it.  Don't be afraid to ask for what you want because chances are, you just might get it!  Below are some images from the day on the water, fishing with Jon and Ray.

Cotton Candy Colors

Happy Tuesday my beautiful readers!  It's such a lovely Fall day.  The weather is absolute perfection.  Usually, a darker color palette is associated with Fall when it comes to fashion.  Some of the color trends for this season are going to be eggplant, royal blue, and venetian red.  But please believe that you can still throw lighter and brighter shades into the mix like I did today.  For some reason, this outfit reminded me of cotton candy.  Now I wish I had some :)

Top: H&M
Jeans: H&M
Shoes: ShoeDazzle
Bag: Mom's Closet

I fell in love with the color combo and print on this peplum style top.  It looks like a mix between flowers and paint splattered all over.  The 3 quarter sleeves are great for days like this when it's still fairly warm with a nice cool breeze.  I wanted to bring out the pink, so when I found these skinny jeans I knew it would be a great pair.  I was already on the hunt for more colored denim so I am really happy I found these.

I haven't worn these shoes since New Years.  I love them, especially because of the studded heel, but they are not the most comfortable!  They went perfect with this outfit though, so I decided to bring them back out.  Wearing a neutral tone shoe is great for outfits like this when there is so much color everywhere else.  Luckily, they don't hurt as much today :)

I stole this bag from my mother's closet.  Since I have on pink bottoms, I really wanted to bring out the purple as well.  I love the pink and purple combo!  I have on really simple accessories today.  I matched this fit with a light pink lip.  MAC Creme Cup is literally my go to shade.  I also switched up the nail polish again and have on ESSIE School Of Hard Rocks.
How do you feel about wearing a lighter color palette during Fall?

And CONGRATS to the winner of the Happy Wrist giveaway... DIANA! Please email me within 2 days to aloveaffairwithfashion@gmail.com.  Your email didn't go through! Thanks so much to all of you who entered!

Enjoy this lovely day <3
